We are seeking a Senior Specialist Developer responsible for support and development of Broker Dealer Services applications.

 

Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software support services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.

Responsibilities include:

•Reviews and analyzes system specifications to determine whether all required elements have been included.

•Consults with clients to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.

•Analyzes, defines, and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, compliance, and outputs.

•Uses programming languages to code computer instructions from Business Requirements and System Designs.

•Utilizes any special programming techniques necessary to achieve the most effective program.

•Tests and debugs computer programs.

•Modifies existing programs to conform to system changes or to make improvements in the existing program.

•Advises and works with user departments to resolve specific problems or make changes in programs, computer applications, capabilities, alternative programming approaches, limitations,  etc.

•Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.

•Monitors performance of programs after implementation

•Cross-trains as back-up for development and maintenance.

•End-end Incident tracking and client follow-up, including post mortem

•Perform miscellaneous support activities as requested by Management.

•Maintains relationships with other departments.

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 8-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

Preferred Experience:

•Proven ability in Java OO concepts, XML, MVC design, JSTL, JSP, WEBLOGIC, TOMCAT, Eclipse, SOA (including web services and ejbs), SQL using Sybase, ORACLE and MYSQL.

•RATIONAL Architect (RSA)

  Unix Shell

•Background with JMS and ANT scripts, CVS

• DlazeDS and/or LCDS (Push) experience a plus

•Experience with seamless integration of various application layers.

•Financial Services products a plus

•Strategic thinking, critical thinking, and a sense of strong ownership and accountability.

•Should be highly motivated, have outstanding communication and strong interpersonal skills, be very organized, operate with rigor/discipline and be able to influence others.
