Description   Main reason job exists/What the job holder will do:
The incumbent will supervise a staff of 5+ responsible for the processing and support of complete, accurate, and timely reconciliations & break resolutions for daily and monthly valued clients as well as the resolution of any problems that arise during the normal daily, weekly, or monthly valuation processes, and the communication of this information to all interested parties. The staff will be supporting a mix of large complex institutional client relationships requiring the understanding of all daily, weekly, and monthly standard and customized client accounting and reporting requirements. S/He will have daily contact with all levels of client staff with respect to daily, monthly, and specialized activity and requests. S/He will need a very solid understanding of all functional groups that support AIS as well as BNY Mellon Performance & Analytical Solutions. S/He will have ultimate responsibility for investment manager/client trade settlements and the full understanding of hedge funds, corporate actions & related topics and will be expected to minimize related risk. S/He will ensure that each customer's accounting information is in adherence with all Mellon internal policies as well as all external standard-setting bodies (e.g. the AICPA and the FASB) and regulatory bodies (e.g. the DOL and the SEC.) S/He will be fully responsible for the Performance Management Process and general staff development/training for his/her staff. S/He will participate in client and prospective client presentations. S/He will provide extensive support of online systems/products, both internally and externally.

Qualifications

Qualifications  Minimum experience, skills, certification and academic background necessary to perform the position:
The qualified candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree/MBA (Finance) with a concentration in Accounting and/or Finance. Extensive knowledge of securities/reconciliations/ hedge funds, fund accounting, expertise in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access), MIS, experience in communication with onshore is required. S/He must be highly proficient with computer applications, our core on-line systems and information delivery tools. S/He must possess excellent communication skills, analytical skills, eye to detail and should be able to supervise effectively under pressure while adhering to strict and constantly changing deadlines. Supervisory, interviewing, organizational and effective leadership skills and relative experience is required. This position requires 4+ years of relevant securities, reconciliations and fund accounting experience. Prior supervisory/team lead experience of at least 2/3 years in reconciliation/fund accounting is a mandate.
