Job Description

The person filing this role will serve as the primary liaison between assigned operations executives and the onshore management team. S/he is responsible to perform and verify mutual fund accounting processing in accordance with department policies and procedures as well as the management of administrative duties. S/he is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing measurable controls.  S/he will collaborate with onshore managers in establishing and evaluating performance/career goals with staff as well as establishing and achieving their own performance/career goals.  Direct staff in defining and meeting applicable compliance requirements, productivity and quality standards. The ideal candidate should be detail oriented, have exceptional communication skills and supervisory experience.

Functional: Perform assigned functional duties related to accounting processing. Review the work performed by the team. Perform responsibilities on more complex funds and transactions. Analyze exceptions and determine appropriate action. Escalate exceptions to the management team in Brooklyn. Work with staff to ensure that all team responsibilities are being met i.e. workflow, service level standards and commitments. Formulate team's Goals and track them, plan PDPs for the team, coach and mentor team members,  conduct monthly, mid-year and annual review of performance

Team Management: Manage all staff schedules and reallocate work as needed to ensure full coverage. Establish/evaluate achievement of performance goals and career goals. Monitor staff progress in meeting performance/career goals and provide appropriate feedback/follow-up. Address any employee issues and resolve them appropriately in line with best management practices. Work on all additions and replacement hirings.

Domain Expert - Business Subject Matter Expert on the function and all related processes. Develop in depth understanding of the business. Research and troubleshoot critical issues.

Quality Management- Recognize, assess and implement process improvements and innovative ideas to improve quality. Constantly improve the team’s quality by comparing it with previous KWIs

LEVELING FACTORS

Business Expertise:  Describe the requirement for knowledge and expertise about how various parts of the organization work together to achieve business objectives.  Explain the degree of understanding required of the industry, commercial environment and of competitor’s products and services.

The incumbent should be highly skilled in recon function. Experience and strong understanding of Asset Management Industry with in-depth knowledge of Fixed Income, Equity, Bonds, and other asset types. S/he should have in depth understanding of trade life cycle and reconciliation, and play a vital role between various departments within Operations.

Problem Solving:  Describe the nature and complexity of the problems this position encounters on a recurring basis.  Include information regarding the level of innovation required, if any, and include mention of environmental factors that may add to the complexity of resolving issues.

The person should be watchful and report any issues promptly. S/he should be quick in identifying  the problem area and escalating immediately. S/he should escalate and make note of routine problems. S/He should be highly skilled to resolve day to day issues faced by the team. He/she should be able to see functional as well as team problems from all side and should be able to see all possible alternatives before coming up with solution to the problem.

Nature & Area of Impact: To what degree does this job affect the business (i.e., through interactions with customers, making decisions, defining or setting strategy, etc.)?  What is the breadth of the impact that this job has, either positive or negative (i.e., affects own team, department, function, business unit, geography, entire business, etc.)?

There cannot be any direct business impact caused by this person. In case the person commits any error it should be caught by reviewer, thus it can lead to some delay but should not harm business. There is a low risk of the business being impacted by this person.  Any errors committed by the person should be caught by the reviewer.  Delays in completing assigned reconciliations could create issues that may impact the business.

Interactions / Interpersonal Skills:  Describe the nature and level of interactions this job has with others, both internally and externally.  Explain any specific interpersonal skills necessary to successfully perform this role (i.e., negotiation skills, represents business at external events or to governmental bodies, etc. ).

The incumbent will have regular interaction with the teams both Local as well as Onshore, hence should have effective business communication skills, both written and verbal. S/he should be able to lead a team and have excellent prioritization and time  management skills to drive through initiatives and service delivery.
