BNY Mellon has established a network of Innovation Centers which act as catalysts for change, and are designed to advance our overall Innovation Strategy. These centers are built in our major locations (Pune, London, Chennai, Silicon Valley, Jersey City, Pittsburgh, Singapore, etc.) with additional centers in the pipeline across other global cities. All of the Global Innovation Centers have common goals to position BNY Mellon as an industry leader, drive culture change within the company, attract and retain top talent. Description

We are looking for an innovation-advocate who will passionately drive technical and client experience initiatives to position the Pittsburgh Innovation Center as a strategic value-driver within the organization. The ideal candidate brings experience working on sophisticated large-scale systems, a strong Computer Science background, experience with continuous integration and agile delivery, strong analytical skills, and a passion for creating elegant software solutions to address complex problems. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver innovative and creative end-to-end designs and solutions in line with BNY Mellon’s digital philosophy and overall architecture
  • Technically own and manage the process and quality of design, build and integration of the various elements of solutions
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with wider technology teams globally, leveraging company capabilities and review IT architectures and projects across BNY Mellon geographies
  • Convert the client project pipeline from strategic engagement to prototype, design, and development execution
  • Serve as a NEXEN Ecosystem, BXP, Digital Pulse and API Store SME and coach for technical teams and clients
  • Research emerging technologies, processes and best practices

Secondary Responsibilities

As a technical lead in an Innovation Center environment, you will be expected to contribute to the culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation. Additional responsibilities could include: 

  • Help stand up technical events, programming and content delivered through the Innovation Center, including: hackathons, meet-ups, speaker series, content curation and blogging
  • Understand and articulate projects that are being driven through the Innovation Center and act as a liaison for their business and development groups
  • Lead conversations with our clients, business leadership, and other key stakeholders to understand requirements and come up with optimal technology solutions to address their needs
  • Evangelize design thinking, NEXEN ecosystem, disruption and lean/agile execution techniques to drive quicker speed to market of solutions 
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key clients, internal and external customers and sponsors. This could include FinTech startups, Incubators, Accelerators and other key influencers
  • Articulate the value of the Pittsburgh Innovation Center inside BNY Mellon and externally in the Pittsburgh technology community
  • Build relationships with local universities and campus recruiting teams with the goal of attracting and retaining top talent

Qualifications

  • Excellent communicator and collaborator
  • Self-motivated and curious with exceptional analytical skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate and effectively coordinate the work of cross-functional teams
  • Passion for innovation and creative problem solving with an enthusiasm to evangelise
  • Experienced in using Open source technologies
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience across the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Agile methodology experience
  • Demonstrable strong track record in delivery of complex solutions and projects
  • Familiarity with design thinking and user-centered design methodologies
  • Strong team orientation with a willingness to jump in and help where needed

Technical

  • Java 
  • Javascript + AngularJS
  • REST Web Services
  • Web application frameworks 
  • Experience in development of complex, large-scale systems
  • Experience in integration with multiple back-end systems


Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 5-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus, should have thorough knowledge of the software development cycle.
