Job Description

The NEXEN Development Team is a collaborative group of passionate and talented engineers based out of our Jersey City Innovation Center.  We are actively working on designing and implementing a comprehensive service delivery platform that not only provides our clients with a consistent and efficient way to access our services, but gives them an ability to make our services available within their own platforms. We embrace Agile methodology and Open Source technologies. We are firm believers in continuous integration and delivery.  Our stack includes Java, Spring, REST, Apache, Tomcat, SQL and NoSQL databases, and AngularJS.


DESCRIPTION:

We are building a new, comprehensive, next-generation platform to replace legacy portal applications. The platform design is as an ecosphere of business services that can be exposed to end users through a responsive UI and / or RESTful API services.  

 

We are looking for team players with experience building sophisticated large scale systems, a strong Computer Science background, experience with continuous integration and agile delivery, strong analytical skills, and a passion for creating elegant software solutions to complex problems. 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities to Include:

  • Interact with business users and understand requirements; analyze and come up with optimal technology solutions to business requirements
  • Design/Develop/code end to end distributed technology solutions
  • Unit Test design and implementation
  • Application deployment
  • Third level support of deployed applications

Qualifications

Below are the technical qualifications.    

 

Above and beyond all else, however, we'd rather hire someone exceptional than hire someone just because they have used a particular toolkit or framework before.

  • Java 
  • Javascript + AngularJS
  • REST Web Services
  • Web application frameworks 
  • Agile methodology experience
  • Experience in development of complex, large scale systems
  • Experience in integration with multiple back-end systems
  • Computer Science or Engineering Degree (B.S or M.S) from a major U.S. or International university is required for this opportunity.


Lead Developer->> Provides application software development services or technical support in situations of moderate complexity. May also be responsible for requirements gathering and BRD/SRD preparation. Has thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle. Conducts reviews of the test Plan and test Data. Writes new programs of moderate complexity and scope, working with basic application system designs and specifications, utilizing BNY Mellon's standard development methodology, procedures and techniques. Designs and codes programs, and creates test transactions and runs tests to find errors and revise programs. Prepares the final and detailed versions of system modification requirements, ensures turnovers are done on time and correctly. Interfaces with architects to design, code, test and implement application programs. Conducts analysis of organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of application systems. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectives. Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 4-6 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus, should have thorough knowledge of the software development cycle.
