Job Description

Counsel- Regulatory Enforcement and Investigations     The Americas Regulatory Enforcement and Investigations team is seeking an attorney with 3 to 5 years’ experience to represent BNY Mellon in internal investigations and in a broad range of inquiries and regulatory enforcement matters originated by various regulatory, government, and law enforcement agencies.  In this role, the attorney will be required to handle governmental and regulatory inquiries directly, conduct internal investigations, and provide advice regarding, and develop strategies for dealing with, matters that involve potential reputational, regulatory, or financial exposure to the company.  The attorney will also be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential legal and regulatory risks.  The attorney will handle matters directly and, where appropriate, direct and manage outside counsel. 


To be eligible for this position, you must be a licensed attorney admitted to practice in New York State; a minimum of 3 years’ experience handling regulatory enforcement matters is required.  In light of the global nature of BNY Mellon’s business, and the increasingly global scope of regulatory enforcement, demonstrated experience and comfort in cross-border investigations and enforcement is preferred.  The successful candidate will also have a confident familiarity with e-discovery principles and best practices.
