Job Description

The Specialist Business Analysis Consultant liaises with both internal business clients and Wealth Management IT colleagues to define business requirements, functional specifications and help drive projects of varying scope/complexity through the software development lifecycle.  Specifically:
  • Interfaces with all areas of IT and the Business to resolve IT matters and improve business processes.
  • Collects and defines use cases, user stories, business or functional requirements and translates them into functional design, test planning, and user documentation processes.
  • Formulates project scope, objectives, constraints and assumptions based upon user needs as well as knowledge of the application.
  • Participates in development of the functional design and user documentation by analyzing business process flows or client requests and identifying changes.
  • Uses knowledge of Technology Project Methodologies (e.g. Agile and Waterfall) and the Private Banking Financial Services business needs to provide design support to software and application development teams.
  • Gathers information and provides analysis of business issues or client feedback for a specific function or application.
  • Supports testing of new or enhanced applications and/or systems. Tasks include case development, requirement traceability analysis, test preparation, script writing, and functional test execution.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and works with technology teams to improve applications for business use.
  • Uses general knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements and BNY Mellon corporate policies involving risk and control to support the development of improved business processes through technology. 
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate: 
  • Solid and extensive business analysis experience
  • Full project life-cycle experience
  • Experience and knowledge of working in either Wealth Management, Private Banking and/or Financial Services.
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders from both Business and IT
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to liaise effectively with personnel at all levels
  • Logical and analytical approach, with the ability to perform structured analysis and solve complex concepts/ issues
  • Demonstrable accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrable knowledge of different project life cycles: waterfall, agile
  • Ability to think strategically and understand the implications of proposed business changes to an environment with multiple systems
  • Ability to work independently and ensure successful delivery of assigned tasks
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and suggest viable alternatives
  • Good technical literacy and understanding of databases; ability to navigate data structures via SQL queries
Specialist Business Analysis Consultant – Analyzes, defines and prioritizes the business requirements, functional specifications and operational architecture for up to and including highly complex strategic, global programs. Provides consultation to IT and business management on applying technology to business opportunities and planning and implementing cross-functional applications or systems. May allocate/coordinate work within a team/project. Elicits, challenges, and prioritizes requirements using standard processes and templates, and translates into functional design and use case documents. Develops project scope, objectives, constraints and assumptions for a given large, strategic, multi-year project. Participates and provides guidance in development of the technical design, test plans, and user documentation. Consults internal business groups on requirements, functional architecture and implementation. Tracks scope and change throughout the remainder of the initiative utilizing formal requirements management principles, including change control and requirements traceability. Gathers and analyzes information to assist in development of recommendations to address strategic business objectives that span multiple, global business and technology areas. Participates in industry forums and keeps current on domain knowledge for their specific business and application areas of expertise. Applies experiences with existing software and/or systems development processes to develop better processes to be used in the future. Actively influences software development process improvement initiatives. Provides senior level consultation to internal business groups on process improvement projects designed to improve their business results. Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectives.   #dicepost #multipost 


Bachelor's degree in business or technical-related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred   6-8 years of experience in providing consulting advice to senior IT and business management required   Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
