Specialist Developer  - Oracle

The application development team creates application layer solutions to streamline and improve the workflow of business processes. In this role, the individual will be responsible for working as part of a global team to design, develop, update, support, new and existing applications. Detailed responsibilities include but are not limited to: consulting with internal business groups to provide application software development services or technical support from concept/workflow to production. This individual will also be responsible for creating the logic, performing the coding, testing and debugging of applications; modifying existing applications/programs as a result of changes in system/user requirements; providing technical assistance in the use of systems software or utilities.

Provides application software development services or technical support in more complex situations. Has thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle. Conducts reviews of the test Plan and test Data. May allocate/ coordinate work within a team/project. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Coordinates coding, testing, implementation and documentation of solution. Ensures that expected application performance levels are achieved. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Conducts analysis of organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of application systems. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectives.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 6-8 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

S/He will bring hands on development skills with Oracle 12c with some experience operating in a Technical Leadership role, you will also bring knowledge of data mart development with previous experience in a large Oracle financial data mart preferably using Exadata.  Preferred 10+ Years hands on experience using Oracle Development tools including Unix/Linux, KSH/BSH Scripting, SQLDeveloper / SQLPlus / SQLLDR, Exadata, RAC, DB Modeling tools (Erwin/DBArtisan), MS Office Suite, Remedy, Jira.  Working knowledge of XML and JSON and functional support for same in Oracle DB.  Knowledge of standard ETL/ELT techniques as well as big data and data mining a plus.  Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to oversee and mentor Jr. Resources.  A significant plus would be previous experience in a hands-on technical role at the Bank of New York Mellon
