Regular/Senior SQL Developer
The European Custody Service supports Risk, Finance, Client Service Delivery and Global Securities Operations by offering an integrated range of operational applications, data warehousing and reporting platforms leveraging core BNYM custody datasets including GSP, IMMS, EPH, CIF, and ECIF.
The service offering includes Global Tax Documentation and reporting, settlement oversight and matching, legal, financial and client MI reporting, standing instruction maintenance and reporting, large exposure management and reporting
Overview of the role:
We are currently carving out a team in Poland that is going to ultimately take over the ownership of the significant part of the technology stack underpinning the European Custody business line.
It is going to be exciting times especially for SQL developers as the huge portion of the systems there require significant re-factorization, so the team is going to invest a lot in rewriting and optimizing a of the existing modules.
Should you strive to finally get to know what the whole Docker buzz is about, our team is the place to be. Our goal is to provide a suit of integration tests that will cover extensively wide spectrum of components, including databases. We are looking for an enthusiast to help us to fully automate process. After commiting SQL code (Git) we would expect that CI (Jenkins) to produce artifacts that would be used for deployment process (in future Continuous Deployment). Let’s be DRY with the database approach.

Currently we are looking for a SQL Developer that on a daily basis would:
- Refactor or reimplement from ground the existing stored procedures
- Challenge existing SQL code
- Optimize/analyse problematic queries
- Provide an insightful code reviews for 2 another SQL developers in a team
- Be able to modify existing bash scripts
- Add to value automation process whenever it is possible.
Ideally, we would also like a prospective candidate to:
- Have more than 4 years’ experience as SQL developer
- Have working knowledge working with T-SQL
- Have working knowledge of any versioning system
- Can use Unix/Linux as a regular user
- Have some scripting knowledge (Bash/Python)
- Huge advantage is working experience with any Sybase solution
