Tax Compliance II - Technology Project Manager

Job Description

Tax Compliance Consultant coordinates the planning, organizing and implementation of medium and small tax technology enhancement projects or events. S/he is responsible for the support of the full project lifecycle from initiation through final implementation, directs all work performed in the approved project schedule and scope and facilitates joint application development sessions to gather business requirements. S/he serves as liaison between Technology Application Support, Corporate Tax Information Reporting & Withholding group and the Tax Compliance Utilities that service the lines of businesses (LOBs) and other system users, monitors the critical path, maintains and publishes a project dashboard, and implements appropriate corrective actions. S/he also recognizes and communicates broad implications of issues and risks and is responsible for coordinating and supporting a matrixed project team, including identification and securing of resources needed from other disciplines and/or organizations. S/he influences the project direction and scope and champions current project management standard processes while ensuring compliance to quality assurance policies.       The incumbent will be responsible for on-going maintenance and enhancement of the tax documentation validation application. Candidate will possess knowledge of the IRS regulations that govern withholding and information reporting regulations (i.e. FATCA, backup withholding and NRA). . She/he is responsible for developing and testing validation rules implemented to maintain the compliance of the application.  She/he will collaborate with Tax Utilities to define an efficient workflow and consult with Corporate Tax Information Reporting & Withholding group on tax technical matters.  Candidate will review exception items and ensure items are compliant with Corporate Tax policy.  She/he will partner with the Tax Operations Manager and tax consultants to identify the most relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and manage business performance, developing the metrics tracking mechanisms and providing insights to the outcomes of the scorecard reporting. The individual in this role will work independently and collaboratively with other members of his/ her team in accordance with the approved response standards. As an individual the Tax Compliance Consultant will develop and deliver requirement documentation, training content, super user support as requested for special projects and continuous improvement.   She/he will support the collection of the daily performance metrics for the various individual users and user groups.  She/he will manage a wide range of planned and unplanned projects that may include complex tax issues and will be time sensitive. 


B.S. degree required. MBA, CPA, MST and/or JD preferred. Experience in a business or technology discipline preferred. Technology project management experience preferred. Extensive tax and accounting knowledge obtained through 7-10 years of experience with a large CPA firm or corporate tax dept. Ability to present research results to Senior Management. Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficient in word processing spreadsheet applications, experience with the internet, computer based research software. Have some supervisory experience and also be a team player.   Preferred qualifications include: Ability to manage a medium sized technology enhancement project and present progress results to Senior Management. Proficient in word processing spreadsheet applications, supervisory experience, and a team player. Previous Information Reporting experience is a plus!   #LI-JF1
