Principal Developer (Java/J2EE, Angular JS, REST, JSON, SQL)
GCCS provides technology development and support for the core engines and associated applications of the following shared Custody and Cash services: Global Securities Settlements, Global Trade Capture, Global Portfolio Services, Global Cash Services, Securities Data Services, and Operational Data Services. GCCS also supports reconciliations across the company through its Enterprise Reconciliation Services.
Securities Data Service is a provider of reference and market data to many business lines within BNY Mellon. This Principal Developer will be a leader in the modernization of our platforms and will contribute to providing a service that is highly scalable, available and resilient.
Primary Job Responsibilities to Include:
- Contributing to and delivering on our modernization and transformation roadmap.
- Migrating legacy code by designing and developing micro service, cloud based solutions.
- Developing and advocating design patterns and best practices for cloud development and automated testing.
- Serve as lead developer and offer mentoring to co-located team members
Principal Developer->> Consults with internal business groups to provide high-level application software development services or technical support. Provides comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to IT management and senior technical staffs. Evaluates compliance with the organization's technology standards. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Guides and consults with IT management and technical staffs regarding use of emerging technologies and associated services. Participates in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies. Advocates for innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives. Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 10-12 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of designing and developing cloud software required.
- Experience with Java/J2EE, Angular JS, REST, JSON, SQL; Agile is desirable.
- Experience using DevOps software (Maven, Jenkins, Git, etc.)
- Conversant in Big Data / NoSQL (Cassandra, Hadoop, MongoDB, etc.)
- Outstanding communication skills, strong work ethic and habits of excellence.
