Job Description

Conducts complex investigative research on significant or high profile cases, including interviewing and field surveillance pertaining to matters of the security and safety of BNY Mellon assets, employees, property, and reputation. Conducts investigative interviews on potentially difficult or sensitive subjects. Researches in the field to support the evaluation of the status, reputation, background, and legitimacy of an individual or organization. Reviews background research conducted by more junior colleagues and leverages it when conducting additional investigative work. Forms an assessment of investigated entities. Identifies and reports suspicious activity and reputational risk to relevant business units, Compliance, or local law enforcement revealed during investigations. Collaborates with local law enforcement on complex or major investigations. Performs surveillance of sites and suspects to obtain evidence, establish probable cause, or link suspects to fraud or criminal activity. Briefs senior management on the status of investigations. No direct reports; provides technical advice/guidance to less experienced due diligence and investigator employees as needed. Contributes to the achievement of Investigations functional objectives. Modified based upon local regulations/requirements.


Bachelor s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 7-10 years of total work experience preferred. Progression to this level is limited to those with prior investigative and law enforcement experience. Seasoned interview and interrogation skills is preferred.
