Job Description

The Sr. Specialist Developer candidate will work on the Shared Application Development Team, which is part of Business Partner Services, Production Services.   The primary responsibilities will be to support two major initiatives which are the re-engineering of a Change Management Tool called Distributed Online Forms and the deployment of a Customized Vendor Web Portal for Client and BNY Operational Report viewing.   Both of these initiatives will leverage BNY Mellon’s Application Engine internal Cloud infrastructure, deployed in the NEXEN ecosystem.   NEXEN is BNY Mellon’s next generation digital ecosystem that represents our company’s technology strategy across the enterprise. NEXEN is based on cloud computing principles, speeding time to market and improving developer productivity for our company and for our clients. Part of our NEXEN strategy involves building RESTful web services and responsive UI's with angularJS.   Responsibilities:   Work collaboratively with Team members domestically and globally to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support for the Distributed Applications supported by the Team.   Candidate will be responsible for analysis, defining, coding and documenting requirements, workflow creation, and development of interfaces with other systems.    The implementation of internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology will also be part of the responsibilities.   The candidate will be responsible for coding and assisting others with their coding assignments.    The candidate will work with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of the applications supported.    . They will analyze information and provide recommendations to address and resolve business issues.  They will contribute to defining time tables and project plans.   Will analyze and estimate feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs.  Will take the lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions and contributes to the achievement of area objectives  

 

Sr. Specialist Developer->> Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 8-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
  • Experience working in geographically dispersed teams is beneficial.
  • Experience with the following technologies would be preferable.
  • REST APIs, Docker
  • Oracle/Exadata,
  • Jenkins, Jira, Git, Maven
  • Java, Angular, HTML5
  • Automated testing.
  • Web Service design and development, (REST/JSON would be a plus)
  • Apache/Tomcat hosting environment, set up / troubleshooting
