Job Description

Directs assigned aspects of the Control & Compliance function related to SOX and control and compliance matters across a business/business partner area, across multiple business partner areas and/or across regions. Manages less experienced control & compliance managers and is responsible for the completion of performance management activities for the team and for providing coaching and guidance on SOX strategy execution. Responsible for the implementation of SOX guidelines, policies and management processes. Sets priorities and allocates resources to align with priorities across multiple businesses. Implements control & compliance management concepts. Prepares and delivers performance reporting. Recognized within the business as an expert on SOX related matters. Serves as an escalation point for SOX issues or roadblocks; shepherds issues through to resolution. Contributes to the development of company-wide standards regarding SOX issues and management of problems. Guides less experienced managers on consulting on issues, questions and problems related to SOX compliance advises senior business managers and the control & compliance staff. Builds relationships with regional leaders to effectively communicate SOX remediation matters. Provides significant subject matter expertise and industry experience to quantify SOX risk exposures within the business and to guide control & compliance managers and ensure their adherence to policies, procedures and guidelines. Implements control & compliance techniques that are aligned with business objectives. Directs the SOX assessment program and corporate risk prioritization in alignment with business and organizational strategies. Directs the implementation of SOX assessment and ensures the appropriate level of compliance among and corporate staff throughout the organization. Contributes to efforts to sustain a risk-aware culture among all employees, contractors and service providers across the business environment or multiple business lines and regions supported. Manages highly complex global priorities. Directs the Control & Compliance management team. Conducts research and analyzes the SOX Act in order to keep up to date with and anticipate changes. Implements approved changes to the SOX Act within the assigned areas. Manages relationships with other business units to ensure SOX compliance. Liaises with legal compliance staff in relation to regulatory matters. Conducts analyses to measures SOX compliance across the business area, as directed. Influences business managers into SOX compliance. Appropriately represents SOX compliance with policies and standards to senior management, internal and external auditors and regulatory officials from multiple jurisdictions and countries. Develops reports on team metrics results and proposes team adjustments as needed to align performance with functional objectives. Coaches and guides managers on improving the execution of the highly complicated SOX activities and achievement of multi-faceted goals. Manages development and talent management processes for more junior managers. Coaches and counsels managers. Directs the management team and ensures their focus on functional and long-term objectives. Interacts regularly with senior management. Responsible for the achievement of goals and objectives. Provides guidance to the management team. Completion of tasks affects achievement of functional objectives. Modified based upon local regulations/requirements. 


Bachelor s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 12-15 years of total work experience with at least 3-5 years in management preferred. Experience in public accounting, SOX testing, financial services or shared services is preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification is preferred.
