Job Description

Assists in conducting fact-finding and straightforward legal research, drafting legal documents, and performing other legal related duties under the guidance of BNY Mellon attorneys for BNY Mellon’s legal practice related to civil litigation.  Assists in compiling information from various bank sources and preparing reports and responses to legal information requests.  Updates database files and processes electronic documents.  Assists in receipt of incoming documents and review for proper dispensation. Prepares and processes first-draft basic legal documents for BNY Mellon's legal practice related to civil litigation.   May conduct preliminary review of legal briefs, motions, contracts, and other court filings.   Assists in compiling information from a variety of bank sources and preparing responses to legal information requests. Updates database files and processes electronic documents.   With direct guidance, conducts fact-finding and legal or regulatory research and delivers to more senior colleagues or attorneys.   Supports outside counsel engagements, arranging exchange of information, and reviewing incoming documents for relevance and proper dispensation.      

Qualifications

Bachelor s degree or paralegal certificate, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 3 years of total work experience preferred. Experience in legal support preferred.
