The incumbent is responsible for developing a detailed understanding of the Asset Servicing business including client base, products, services and risks. Using this knowledge the incumbent will work with the business to identify and analyze material existing and emerging risks and will ensure the business understands and takes ownership for risk decisions resulting in implementation of mitigants and appropriate resolution of issues. This includes working closely with the LOB, Legal, Compliance, etc., to establish a thorough understanding of the risks associated with new and existing business, new products, and business changes, analyzing those risks, understanding existing and proposed controls and engaging with and challenging the first line of defense to mitigate those risks. S/He ensures appropriate escalation and acceptance of material risks. S/He collaborates with LOB regarding the development and implementation of sound risk management practices including Risk and Control Self Assessments, Key Risk Indicators, etc. within the business in line with the Risk Framework. The incumbent will engage business management to understand risks, challenge existing controls and assist in establishing a strong risk culture. The incumbent is also responsible for working with the Risk Manager and LOB to improve management information in order to bring attention to material issues or actionable items as necessary.
Responsible for the ongoing independent oversight and challenge of day-to-day risk management activities, client, product and process change risk assessments and risk reporting for an assigned business line/entity risk facing a high level of risk. Advises and assist the assigned business line with the evaluation of their existing processes and uses a high level of knowledge of risks that commonly arise to appropriately direct the business line's activities to address any control gaps. Uses strong familiarity with the assigned business line to anticipate, assess, monitor and report on operational, fiduciary, reputational, business and strategic risks inherent to the assigned business line. All reporting adheres to established CORM policies and procedures. Ensures the assigned business line's appropriate completion of all steps involved in the identification of possible risks during the creation or modification of new products and processes and all non-standard business acceptance events. Recommends modifications to reduce implementation risk and uses strong influence with business line management to ensure compliance, risk and control documentation and notification of all appropriate representatives and regulators. Uses established working relationships with the Risk Management, Compliance and Audit teams and members of the business line team to ensure timely completion of risk-related deliverables, issue resolution and implementation of improvements. The qualified candidate will possess a BS/BA degree, an MBA or at least 10 years of relevant product/financial services and/or credit, risk management, and compliance management experience with a thorough knowledge of banking and fiduciary regulations, operations, and control systems. S/He will have superior problem solving, analytical and oral and written communications skills. S/He will have the ability to handle stressful situations with internal clients while maintaining a professional approach to problem solving. S/he will have outstanding interpersonal skills in order to influence and impact business decisions over which s/he has no direct authority.
