Specialist Business Analysis Consultant
Candidate will know and follow business analysis industry and internal standards and practices. S/He needs to analyze business systems and/or business processes to identify user needs (scope), document requirements, current process flows and non-functional requirements that will address operation process issues and establish sound and reusable business improvements that satisfy business objectives. Strong understanding and practical application of executing quality assurance test standards and test cases/scripts required. Knowledge of test automation a plus.
Strong communication skills required as well as independence in setting and achieving goals. Candidate will work closely with the project manager (s) as well as execute PM type tasks to keep project life cycles on track as well as manage CAIR items and business partners for issue resolutions. Candidate will also provide consultation to IT and business management on applying technology to business opportunities and planning and implementing cross-functional applications or systems. This may include complex account rules or models across the global applications.
Candidate will work closely with the business to complete approved direction and move seamlessly through project phase gates engaging them as appropriate. Candidate will also build close working relationships with development staff on high level design for operationally efficient and reusable approaches. Candidate will participate in consulting during coding and will assist in system test planning as well as lead functional testing. Business Analyst will coordinate user acceptance test plans and scheduling with the business partners through to test approval.
S/He will tracks scope and change throughout the remainder of the initiative utilizing formal requirements management principles, including change control and requirements traceability. Gathers and analyzes information to assist in development of recommendations to address strategic business objectives that span multiple, global business and technology areas.
Candidate should also participate in industry forums (accounting knowledge, GAAP, and business analysis disciplines) and will be asked to keeps current on domain knowledge (understanding what our business partners do day to day) for their specific business and application areas of expertise.
Candidate will have opportunity to apply their knowledge and experiences with existing software and/or systems development processes to develop better processes to be used in the future. Actively influences software development, process improvement initiatives. Provides senior level consultation to internal business groups on process improvement projects designed to improve their business results. Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectives.
Bachelor's degree in business or technical-related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred, 6-8 years of business analysis experience in providing consulting advice to senior IT and business management required, experience in the securities or financial services industry as well as Portfolio accounting business knowledge requires. Additional skillsets around agile methodologies, Scrum approaches as well as exposure/use of JIRA (project lifecycle management) a plus. Candidate will be proficiency in Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and knowledge/use of SAS (for data retrieval for use in analysis and testing) helpful.
