Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Senior Information Risk officer, the IRO is has the following responsibilities:
  • Construction of Information Risk Dashboards feeding into key Newton Committees.  Be responsible for all content and accuracy of reporting coordinating the collection of data across Newton and BNY Mellon as appropriate.  Have a clear understanding and be able to support all reported information.  Continually question the value of included information and look to incorporate complementary statistics as appropriate. 
  • Manage the resolution of system vulnerabilities coordinating across technology and reporting against declared SLAs on dashboards.  Work with technology SMEs to determine the impact of resolution and need for testing (UAT, Regression).  Work with BNY Mellon to understand and prioritise genuine risk.
  • Perform analysis to identify Newton Ethical Hack issues. Work with development teams to track, justify, remediate and report. Liaise across groups and business areas.
  • Manage Newton Policy Exceptions. The IRO is required to approve all exceptions before they are created requiring a detailed understanding.  During the Global Exception Governance Review monthly session, the IRO is required to justify the exception, discussing why it is required and for how long.  The IRO will require a detailed knowledge both functionally and technically before attending the meeting.
  • Access Controls Attestations.  Responsible for reviewing access to Newton systems, coordinating amendments with the business owners, effecting change and presenting to the central BNY Mellon attestation team in line with their published timescales.  With regard to distributed attestations performed by Newton staff, monitor progress against the target date and provide assistance as needed.
  • Ownership of BNY Mellon System Repository (IDIP). Responsible for data classifications, application priority list (and factors defining it as such), recovery time objectives and other information risk factors.  Coordinate the refinement of all information across technology SMEs.
  • Coordination of Newton Suppliers and Information Risk Considerations.  Including on boarding, creation of risk profile, initial information risk assessments, support of Newton Relationship Managers, coordination of actions, reporting of statistics, becoming the System SME offering assistance, and guidance to Newton staff as appropriate.
  • Construction of Level 1 Information Risk Policies where the BNY Mellon policies are inadequate for Newton.
  • Management of the Information Risk Jira Project adding to, and refining the work in progress and managing pipeline.
  • Ad-hoc projects as required such as the organisation of unstructured Newton data from and Information Risk perspective, coordination and management of Newton UDTs and refinement of folder permissions for critical business files.
