Overview of FX Services department:

FX Services is part of BNYM’s Markets. Our development team owns a number of applications that take care of the full lifecycle of a FX trade:  capturing orders, middle office, pricing orders, settlement, risk, post trade analytics and reporting. We interface with many other teams and applications within and outside of the bank. Our development team is geographically distributed, but we nurture a collaborative environment with the goal of delivering resilient, scalable and extendible solutions to our business partners.  We embrace Continuous Delivery methodology and Open Source technologies.

 

Overview of the projects:

Our users are global, in Asia, EMEA and North America.   The team is currently working on several large projects across a range of FOREX products. 

 

The technology stack consists of: BNYM’s cloud computing environment, Tomcat application server, Apache web server, Java/J2EE and back-end Java frameworks such as: Spring, Activiti, Hazelcast, Hibernate, websocket; Oracle database, front-end development using AngularJS and websocket. Interfacing via MQ, REST and SOAP web services….  Our systems also use a full suite of enterprise services and platforms available within BNYM and Global Markets:  Enterprise Service Bus, Reuters Rate Server, Kafka, MongoDB…

 

 

Overview of the role:

 

The associate will be in charge of building applications, tools, and frameworks used for FX products.  He/She will assist the lead architect and other developers in designing the interface between various FX platforms. He/She will design and develop web services, messaging interfaces etc to support the project. He/She will participate in meetings, design sessions and collaborate with all of our distributed teams to deploy, integrate and test the interfaces developed. The associate will be required to understand in depth how FX Services interface with other systems in the bank and all different ways foreign exchange transactions are priced.  He/She will be emerged into all of the best practices of the Continuous Delivery, such  as: automated builds via Jenkins, rigorous unit, integration and regression testing, automated testing, paired programming, code reviews, etc.

 

 

Responsibilities:

·       Requirements Analysis

·       Application design and implementation

·       Collaborate with various geographically distributed teams

·       Unit Test, Integration Test and Automated Acceptance Test design and implementation

·       Application deployment

·       Third level support of deployed applications

·       Following the best Continuous Integration/Delivery practices and actively contributing to them

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 8-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

·       Experience in Java 7+, J2EE, web application frameworks (preferably Spring 4+)

·       Experience in working with Java Application Servers (preferably Apache Tomcat 7+) and Apache Web Server (2.2+)

·       Experience with Angular and/or NodeJS

·       Knowledge of PLSQL and experience in working with Oracle

·       Knowledge of various open source frameworks such as: Hibernate, Hazelcast, Activiti…

·       Experience building and consuming RESTful webservices

·       Good written and verbal communication skills.
