Job Description

The analyst will support risk management efforts of the Broker Dealer Credit group in its review of securities industry firms with particular emphasis on counterparty credit risk.

 

The analyst:

--reviews/analyzes broker dealer and counterparty credit portfolios and presents to senior management;

--develops and delivers documentation, reporting and special projects in a timely manner;

--interacts frequently with business line managers, Market Risk, and Client Executives;

--is expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of the BNY Mellon's various products and services; 

--supports the ongoing intra-day and overnight approval of loans for primarily broker dealer clients and works closely with treasury and operations staff within the financial services sector;

--helps to improve adherence to the risk management strategy;

--helps to identify existing and emerging risks that are applicable to the assigned credit risk discipline;

--contributes to legal documentation processes and structuring of term sheets and deals, and may independently complete drafts of documentation for review by more senior professionals;

--limited travel required.

 

Candidate should be comfortable in a fast-paced environment that requires quick and accurate decision making.  Some familiarity with Securities Finance and/or Securities Lending, as well as a basic familiarity with broker-dealer business models, clearance, and repo mechanics is also a plus. 

 

Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Family Requirements: 5-7 years of total work experience preferred. Prior experience/background in credit risk preferred. In addition, may require the following experience/skills based on primary duties: Discipline Requirements: Credit Analysis & Approval/Portfolio Management: Formal credit training preferred. Ability to assist with the management of diverse lending, operating products, attendant risk, foreclosure, bankruptcy and/or OREO assets. Operational Credit Risk: Formal credit training preferred. Experience as an underwriter and assisting with the management of rapid-turnaround, intraday funds transfers and approvals. Country Risk: Formal credit training preferred. Experience with borrower rating systems and tracking methodologies, and basic knowledge of fiscal and financial condition indicators. Credit Administration: Experience as an underwriter and familiarity with credit administration systems typically used by financial institutions. Community Reinvestment Act/Appraisal: Strong familiarity with the Community Reinvestment Act and significant experience conducting complex real estate appraisals.
