Senior Principal, Data Scientist and Quantitative Analyst

Reporting directly to Head of Trading and Trade Analytics, the Sr. Data Scientist and Quant Analyst will play a significant role in design, research, development and deployment of: suite of contextual trading analytics, proprietary trading research library, multi-asset class market Impact models, real-time decision support tools, trading Recommendation System. Responsible for oversight and execution on the development of statistical, financial and/or econometric models for analyzing asset performance, client reference data, securities data, derivative pricing, risk exposure or other sophisticated concepts. He/she will provide subject matter expertise for assigned area and/ or team.
The incumbent will perform and direct advanced, complex statistical and quantitative analyses for assigned area, which includes, presenting research findings to internal and external clients and constituents and recommend to management techniques and methodologies to be used for each type of activity/analysis. He/she will direct data modeling and quantitative analysis projects and serves as subject matter expert to less experienced colleagues.
Utilizing technology applications to perform sophisticated complex analyses; incumbent applies techniques such as SQL and querying and macro development to extract data for populating models and presents to management. Programs system configuration in order set up sophisticated models or algorithms. Partners with management and advised the selection the most appropriate technologies. Embrace and promote API-driven solutions, utilizing open source resources and cloud-based architecture
The Sr. Data Scientist has an expertise in relevant products in assigned area and which analyses, methodologies and approaches best support assessment of performance, risk, or valuation. Develop and maintain expert-level understanding of market micro structure globally and across asset classes. Act as subject matter expert to lead complex advanced projects in support of new or evolving processes/products or for initiatives with cross-functional or enterprise-wide impact. Provide domain expertise in solving research-intensive portfolio implementation challenges. Research and develop trading signals and analytics, based on a rigorous and effective quant research process. Collaborate with engineers, vendors and infrastructure to implement research in the production environment.
Formulates findings and prepares ad-hoc reports and delivers results to management and/or other leaders. Develop research quant libraries. Provides recommendations for addressing observed outcomes. Translates complex technical concepts and analyses to non-technical audiences. Ensures accuracy of reports and calculations performed by less experienced colleagues and gives guidance when appropriate.
No formal supervisory responsibility but may provide work oversight and allocation of projects to less experienced analysts and provide input into their performance assessments.
Impact of work is felt beyond immediate team and sub function and contributes to the achievement of functional goals, business unit and overall business.
Strong coding skills in Python, R, C++ or Java preferred. Understanding of REST, gRPC and other API –related frameworks, concepts and tools. Proficiency with AWS, Azure or other cloud-based environments preferred. Experience in PostgreSQL, Redis and other DB solutions. Expertise in ML and optimization technologies preferred. Deep understanding of financial engineering and mathematical finance concepts.
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree in quantitative analysis preferred.
- 12+ years total work experience preferred. Experience in quantitative finance and technology preferred.
