Business Systems Analyst


Eagle Investment Systems LLC is a leading global provider of data management, accounting and performance measurement solutions to the financial services industry. A subsidiary of The Bank of New York Mellon, Eagle operates within BNY Mellon Client Technology Solutions. 

We currently have an opening for a Business Systems Analyst. Investment accounting experience is required. Primary tasks include but are not limited to: root cause analysis on software defects using various debugging tools, making changes to the Eagle Accounting Engine business rules framework, creating functional specifications, managing automated test suites, building test plans, performing unit testing, and acting as a liaison between software engineers and other teams.


This role requires a considerable amount of technical expertise which the qualified applicant will be expected to learn if they do not have prior experience. Experience with SDLC (software development lifecycle) concepts as well as exposure to different frameworks such as SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) is preferable. While training is provided, this role requires a great deal of self-directed learning in order to be successful. The ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is required. Managing multiple deadlines and responding to changing priorities with minimal supervision is critical. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and highly organized. The individual will be required to interface with other groups within the company and must be able to demonstrate an ability to work in a professional, cooperative manner. This includes the coordination and execution of software development tasks on the Eagle STAR accounting system across various teams.


-     Although no programming experience is required, the desire and ability to learn the technical architecture and structure of the system is required.

-       Solid knowledge of investment portfolio accounting is required.

-     Knowledge of fixed income and/or derivative instruments is beneficial.

-     Prior experience as a business systems analyst on software development projects is preferable.

-     Prior experience with Eagle STAR is preferable.

-     Desire to learn one or more querying tools to access database information is required.

-     Experience with SQL, C++, XML, Linux, and Team Foundation Version Control (TFVC) within Visual Studio is a plus.

-     Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and in a professional manner with other groups within the company.



The qualified candidate will have knowledge of investment accounting as well as software development. Job hours are flexible with the ability to work remotely. Onsite attendance is expected unless extenuating circumstances arise.

Specialist Business Analysis Consultant->> Analyzes, defines and prioritizes the business requirements, functional specifications and operational architecture for up to and including highly complex strategic, global programs. Provides consultation to IT and business management on applying technology to business opportunities and planning and implementing cross-functional applications or systems. May allocate/coordinate work within a team/project. Elicits, challenges, and prioritizes requirements using standard processes and templates, and translates into functional design and use case documents. Develops project scope, objectives, constraints and assumptions for a given large, strategic, multi-year project. Participates and provides guidance in development of the technical design, test plans, and user documentation. Consults internal business groups on requirements, functional architecture and implementation. Tracks scope and change throughout the remainder of the initiative utilizing formal requirements management principles, including change control and requirements traceability. Gathers and analyzes information to assist in development of recommendations to address strategic business objectives that span multiple, global business and technology areas. Participates in industry forums and keeps current on domain knowledge for their specific business and application areas of expertise. Applies experiences with existing software and/or systems development processes to develop better processes to be used in the future. Actively influences software development process improvement initiatives. Provides senior level consultation to internal business groups on process improvement projects designed to improve their business results. Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectives. 


Bachelor's degree in business or technical-related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred, 6-8 years of experience in providing consulting advice to senior IT and business management required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
