Job Description

Client Processing - S4 Applies expertise and judgement in providing quality, and occasionally complex client service and support to internal and external clients on a daily basis, including phone interaction, problem resolution, transaction processing (i.e., STP, manual), reconciliations and accounting services, and updates to client accounts in a timely manner.  Individual will be working in the Fund of Hedge Funds Fund Order Processing (FOP) team within The Bank of New York Mellon Alternative Investment Services.  This individual is directly responsible for providing excellent client service and ensuring all trades are promptly and accurately processed. Responsibilities include liaising with clients, Investment Managers, Administrators and internal departments. Understand the overall direction of the AIS business and the relationship of these goals to the overall strategy of The Bank of New York Mellon. Understand the core services of AIS and how they meet the client's needs, including: Portfolio Accounting, Investor Accounting, Custody, Transfer Agency. Understand the transaction flows throughout AIS and the impact of mistakes at each step on the other. Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the department. For each client, be aware of the transaction history, patterns of investing, specific requirements, and service standards affecting that client. Understand the forms, documentation and other legal requirements to set up accounts in AIS. Understand the risks inherent in specific transactions. Understand the information flows through the various AIS systems. Knowledge of how to use the various systems specific to the job function. Analyzing existing internal procedures and recognizing opportunities for improvement. Taking initiative to develop, communicate and implement client requirements with other areas. Identifying underlying causes of problems and possible solutions while assessing the risk attached to the problem. Balancing customers needs for customized or non-standard solutions vs. the efficiencies that can be gained through standard services. Escalating to Management problems or opportunities that are appropriate and need resolution. Ability to oversee function in a knowledgeable and decisive manner. Volunteering for assignments. Exhibits a high level of desire to succeed. Influencing others to focus on client sensitivities and priorities.


High school/secondary school or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelors degree preferred. 3-5 years of total work experience preferred. Experience in brokerage processing preferred.
