Job Purpose: (What the job role involves)

The Business Manager is part of the Manchester-based EMEA Client Service Delivery (CSD) Office, reporting to the Manager of the EMEA Operations Office and CSD Manager UK Banking Legal Entities.

The Business Manager will lead on all Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR) matters, which require Client Service Delivery engagement or consultation.

The Business Manager will have primary responsibility to maintain the Client Service Delivery control and oversight framework for the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR), ensuring that all reports, artefacts and documentation is captured, maintained and regularly reviewed.

The Business Manager will also manage and/or coordinate large/complex Operations, Corporate or Business driven initiatives that have a dependency on EMEA Operations, ie change management, operational model engineering and transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities: (Key parts to the job role)

• Maintain the Operations control and oversight framework for the Senior Managers and Certification Regime, ensuring that all reports, artefacts and documentation are captured, maintained and regularly reviewed including but not limited to:-

• The Operation’s Senior Managers Statement of Responsibility (SOR).

• The Operation’s Senior Managers control schedule, which records and evidences the governance and controls, day-to-day delegation, reliance and business area handoffs.

• The Operations Senior Managers monthly status reports.

• The Operations Senior Managers monthly evidence pack.

• Review all EMEA Operations organisational changes to ensure that any and manage the Senior Managers and Certification Regime to ensure are captured and correctly reflected.

• Provide Senior Managers and Certification Regime training and regular communication updates to EMEA Operations.

• Management of regulatory and functional transitions in or out of the Operations Senior Managers and Certification Regime.

• Represent EMEA Operations in Control Management meetings.

• Manage and/or coordinate large/complex Operations, Corporate or Business initiatives/projects (excluding regulatory initiatives/projects)

• Represent EMEA Operations at Business, Regional and Legal Entity committees, governance forums and meetings as required.  

• Provide support to EMEA Operations teams when faced with key operational issues and support escalation to governance and oversight forums.

• Build relationships across the BNY Mellon group to ensure that EMEA Operations is effectively represented and that company leverages the EMEA Operations Office where appropriate.

• Work closely with the Manager of the EMEA Operations Office to identify opportunities for process improvements and best practice adoption across EMEA Operations and the wider organisation.

• Be aware of and understand the EMEA control framework, which ensures compliance with applicable UK regulations and in support of Senior Managers and Certification Regime responsibilities.

• Be aware of and understand the risks within the UK Banking Legal Entities and EMEA CSD through Risk Appetite, High Level Assessments (HLA’s) RCSA’s, etc.

Qualifications

Requirements; (what we are looking for)

The successful candidate will ideally have extensive experience in the Financial Services or related industry. You will also have, but not limited to:

• Good knowledge and understanding of UK Senior Managers and Certification Regime.

• Experience and interest in the financial services sector and understanding of the UK (CASS) Regulatory framework.

• Excellent organisation skills.

• Demonstrated initiative and high quality work standards are essential.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Strong written and oral presentation skills.

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

• Willingness to learn and cultivate good working relationships with internal clients, stakeholders and peers.

• Proven ability to handle multi-tasks and work effectively in time pressured situations.

• Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.

• Excellent IT Skills: MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
