Job Description

BNY Mellon has enjoyed an established presence in Japan since 1970. We have continuously built a strong business that currently employs around 200 BNY Mellon professionals in Tokyo. Our professionals are dedicated to serving Japanese clients and are distinctly familiar with the Japanese economy, business culture and language. Moreover, we are actively involved in the social contribution activities in Japan, including the sponsorship to Shingo Kunieda, wheelchair tennis player started since 2011.   The HR Administrator will be responsible for a range of tasks to the business and HR. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Payroll duties to include coordinating and working closely with our third party payroll service company in Japan, answering payroll queries and supporting the payroll team
  • HR Administrative duties to include working with the regional HR team on HR matters
  • Acting as a first point of call for local HR issues and responding to some HR matter via the online employee portal. This will include processing reviewing and processing requests and escalating matters where necessary
  • Assists with on boarding and off boarding tasks to include preparing and drafting offer letter packs and dealing with HR Information System
  • Recruitment Administrative such as preparing, reviewing and sending contracts of employment to new employees
  • Scheduling interviews taking place within the business to include booking rooms and video – conferencing across multiple time zones and locations
  • Offering country, regional or subject matter support in relation to recruitment system, background checks and/ or visa applications
  • Sourcing via various recruitment platforms, to include screening candidates for Japan Investment Management
  • Documents and maintains administrative procedures to ensure compliance to internal governance policy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • At least 3 years’ of experience working in HR preferred. Local Japanese payroll experience is essential
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact at all levels of the organization with diplomacy and professionalism
  • Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities in a fast paced environment, while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to change as it occurs in numerous areas within HR
  • Aptitude to manage large call/email volume
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee data with discretion and professionalism/ Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Taleo
  • English skill (TOEIC 700+)
  • Business level Japanese speaking and writing
