What we are doing

 

BNY Mellon generates approximately twenty percent of its revenue from its balance-sheet activities including lending, deposit taking, capital markets products and portfolio investing. The company is launching a Balance-Sheet strategy function with direct responsibility for managing the ALM function, the Investment Portfolio, the Institutional Lending business and capital planning. The function will also work closely with business leaders in developing their business strategies in particular as they relate to the use of the balance-sheet. The function will closely collaborate with both the Corporate Strategy and Corporate Treasury functions.

 

The function aspires to be a talent incubator for the Bank by providing exceptional developmental opportunities for high-potential colleagues. The team will be located in all of BNY Mellon’s regional hubs – New York, London, and Hong Kong – and operate as a truly global function.

 

What we need and what you could do

 

We are currently looking to fill senior positions in our Pittsburgh and New York locations. Selected candidate(s) will be among the first members of this new function, and will play a significant role in shaping its priorities and operating model.

 

The selected candidate(s) would be in a high profile role working closely with the Bank’s executive leadership.

 

Role Accountabilities:

 

     -Developing a framework and MIS with respect to the portfolio-wide risk-adjusted performance of the company's assets and liabilities

     -Identify and analyze opportunities to drive franchise revenue via the use of balance-sheet

     -Identifying, quantifying and actioning opportunities to improve the risk-adjusted performance of the company’s assets, liabilities, and overall balance-sheet position

     -Collaborating with individual business lines, Corporate Treasury and Corporate Strategy to develop balance-sheet led business strategy

     -Lead initiatives to develop the strategy and to improve the MIS, analytics and process around credit extension

     -Lead initiatives to improve the MIS, analytics, and process around liability gathering

 

The ideal candidate would have a passion for and track record in:

 

     -Being entrepreneurial and self-directed – being able to take a conceptual business challenge from an initial set of facts and hypotheses to real, practical solutions

     -Working closely with and counseling senior business leaders with the objective of being a trusted advisor

     -Being intellectually curious and interested in the future of financial services and shaping an industry through one of its major stakeholders

     -Managing complexity and leading multiple projects with an unrelenting focus and prioritization

     -Being a thoughtful communicator who can express complex ideas in simple, practical terms for a wide range audiences

     -Bring a global mindset and working across a diverse set of environments

 

 

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. MBA or Advanced degree preferred. Managerial experience is required. 15 plus years of total work experience with at least 5-7 in management preferred. Experience in management consulting and/or wholesale banking preferred. Experience in the securities or financial services industry preferred.
