Sr. Specialist Developer – PowerBI, DataWarehousing


 


We are looking for Sr. Specialist Developer with background in Business Intelligence technology, Microsoft PowerBI, to be part of our Alternative Investment Services Technology team. The ideal candidates should have subject matter expertise in Business Intelligence and Datawarehousing. He/She will work closely with the business and technology stakeholders The position is responsible for the following: (1) Identifying business or customer requirements and information technology alternatives; and (2) Translating requirements into information technology project specifications (3) Develop technical solutions and enhancements using various tools (PowerBI, SSRS etc…). Additional responsibilities include data integration & validations, reporting, and business analysis.


 


Essential Functions


  • Understanding of application architecture, design, development, and integration.
  • Technical capabilities (such as programming) and Functional capabilities (such as business process knowledge) necessary to bring value to the role.
  • Ability to write custom PowerBI Dashboards and Reports
  • Ability to write advanced SQL queries as a datasource for the PowerBI Reports
  • Evaluates, recommends, and develops business process improvements and enhancements, including developing detailed workflow diagrams and project plans from concept through implementation.
  • Proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver associated artifacts as needed.
  • Develops requirements specifications according to standard templates.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
  • Identifies, analyzes, tests, and documents information for report development in multiple reporting options.
  • Recommends ad hoc analysis and develops custom reports in response to changing business needs.
  • Collaborates with business leaders to continue the ongoing reporting process and help to resolve issues and improve processes.

Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 8-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.  

    ·        MS PowerBI experience a must


  • Experience connecting PowerBI Report to an API is a plus

    ·        Advanced knowledge of business intelligence software and data structures

    ·         Development experience using SQL, SSRS, SSIS technologies

    ·         Experience in customizing and integrating applications, preferably Real Estate applications, but comparable experience will be considered

    ·         Experience with technical writing and training including the design, development, and delivery is a plus
