Job Description

There are about 150 people globally in Sales roles in Markets.  Sales people primarily sit in one of the five businesses FX; Fixed Income and Equities; Securities Finance; Collateral Management; or, Liquidity and Segregation.  In addition there is a small Cross-product Sales team with 15 people spread across the Americas, EMEA and APAC regions.

The Markets Sales COO group includes the Sales and Performance Analytics team.  We are seeking a Business Manager for Sales in New York reporting to the overall COO for Markets Sales in London.

Role Responsibilities:

Client Strategy:  Coordinate with Sales and Business Heads to develop and agree targets (segment, client, product etc) for existing and prospective clients. Analytical work will include analysis such as market and client wallet sizing. Work with partners including Finance and Sales Performance and Analytics team to incorporate these targets into business plans and manage information systems. 

Organisational Strategy: Support management in ensuring we have an effective coverage model for executing our client strategy, including talent planning, skills training and development, and performance assessments; support talent management efforts, including firm-wide review processes and the stewardship of hiring and on boarding activities.

Sales Processes: Design and oversee regional sales processes that support our client strategy and control environment, including management of our client pipeline.  Ensure processes balances the need to grow revenue with our risk and governance framework, and remain coordinated with global efforts. Support Sales and Business Heads with presentation material, management reporting and ad hoc analyses. Work with Marketing and other partners on the design and execution of Sales campaigns.

Governance and Controls: Coordinate with functional partners such as Compliance, Regional Management and Business Heads and Sales to ensure effective execution of our Controls framework, including management of sales responses to regulatory change or related projects that may impact our business with clients.

Business Change: Ensure effective delivery of business change for the benefit of Sales.  Will need to perform various roles in this regard, for example working directly as a Business Analyst or Project Manager for Markets directed initiatives, or generally as a subject matter expert to represent the Sales organisation’s requirements to delivery partners for firm wide process and technical change programs and vice versa.  Most particularly, to drive the design and adoption of Sales performance metrics and indicators.

Organisational Administration: General duties for the Sales organisation including annual direct expense planning with Finance; ongoing expense oversight and control; management of corporate real estate requirements; business continuity planning and so on.

Role Requirements

Knowledge and experience requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree a must; masters/ MBA a plus

• A minimum of seven years prior experience at a leading wholesale bank, with at least two years in a Business or Operational Management role

• First-hand knowledge of the Markets product set

Skill requirements

• Initiative and ability to structure and drive projects from idea to completion are a must

• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; must be comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization

• Excellent written communication and presentation skills

• Advance MS Excel and PowerPoint skills

Qualifications

Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 7-10 years of total work experience preferred.
