Job Description

The Collateral Management product suite has been developed to meet the continuous requirements by major financial institutions and principle brokerage firms to improve their profit ratios. The successful management of their collateral (securities or cash) to support this was a logical development within the securities industry. The mission of Collateral Management and Segregation is to handle the administration and collateralization for the Collateral product suite.

The GTBS Senior Workflow Lead has the overall responsibility for the day-to-day organization and oversight of the team globally (Brussels – Orlando – Singapore).

  • The GTBS team has the following main responsibilities for all covered products within Global Collateral Management and Segregation:

  • Production support: Liaison between technology and business operation groups as a first level of escalation for issues encountered on functional BAU processes or system issues

  • Stakeholder in Agile Scrum team’s sprints:

    • Help building stories (requirements)

    • Enrich and control QA functional testing within sprint cycles

  • User Acceptance and integration Testing: Perform integration and regression testing, support implementation to production, training to stakeholders and post implementation support. First line of support for UAT issues encountered by team members.

  • Client onboarding support (includes client facing)

    • Inbound and outbound messaging expertise support to internal and external clients

    • Reporting set up coordination

    • Client testing

The GTBS senior WorkFlow Lead therefore has responsibility for the delivery of services to both internal and external Clients in all these areas. 

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Organisation of the day-to-day work: anticipate and plan work ahead of time, establish guidelines for the team on how the work needs to be organized, assign tasks, assist in holidays planning/overtime recuperation, organize team meetings within the team or externally to find solutions for isolated or recurring problems.


  • Performance management: analyse training needs and organize staff training and coaching, assist Team Manager in follow-up on staff performance (input on staff performance), assist with planning and execution of staff development plans.


  • Client focus: deliver for our Clients, act as a Client advocate within the teams and across BNY Mellon.


  • Escalation point: act as primary point of escalation internally within the group/department and externally.  Report issues to the Team Manager as well, proposing and providing a solution for the problem at hand. Act as the Team Manager back-up on operational issues.


  • Risk management
    • Ensure the team has the right controls in place and that the team continuously adheres to these controls. Identify missing controls/procedures and implement solutions

    • In case of complex and/or risky issues, organize meetings up front to anticipate all potential problems. Organise after-the-fact reviews when a problem has happened. Document new actions, workarounds, solutions, and ensure that changes in procedure are communicated and followed

    • Monitor team’s assignments


  • Project management:
    • Act as first point of contact on timeline proposals from the overall PM team
    • Manage documentation with stakeholders and GTBS team to ensure necessary documents are available and clear to start our part of the project, as well as our own milestones within the project  are being completed timely and accurately
    • Lead or coordinate projects where GTBS team is appointed as project owner from start to end



  • A good understanding of the Collateral Management and Segregation business

  • Preferably a good understanding of the technical process flows linked to Collateral Management and Segregation business or proved background in a position exposed to these technical process flows

  • A good understanding of the Global Custody business

  • Experience with UAT testing and Project Management

  • Approximately 5 years or more experience in one (or more) BNYM departments.

  • Experience in one (or more) BNYM Asset Servicing departments is considered an asset as well as knowledge of systems used within these departments
