Senior Specialist Developer (Mainframe - DB2 / SQL / COBOL, CICS, Batch, JCL, TSO/ISPF and MQ)

Job Description

Investigate system and programming issues, propose solutions and recommend design improvement for increase efficiency for our client experience.  Consult with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services and technical support.  Work with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications.  Analyze and implement interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology in support of business and application needs.  Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues. Contribute to defining time tables and project plans. Analyze and estimate feasibility, cost and time to deliver quality solutions for our clients. Take the lead to identify ‘best practices’ for proactive mitigation of potential pitfalls in the development life cycle and post implementation.  Propose innovative, creative technology solutions. Contribute to the achievement of area objectives. 




Sr. Specialist Developer->> Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 8-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
8-10 years of IBM Mainframe experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.     Required skills include strong problem solving competence, solid working knowledge of database structures, tools and techniques using DB2 / SQL.  Advance proficiency in COBOL, CICS, Batch, JCL, TSO/ISPF and MQ.  Fluent knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Excel macros and advance features.
