The Role As a Systems Engineer, you will be part of a team that provides engineering and L3 support for the infrastructure and any availability, performance or maintenance/automation tasks associated with the support of the environment. Our environment contains several thousand Hypervisor hosts spanning both VMware and Hyper-V, including containerization.  

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ownership and management of several third-party applications which are used by internal lines of business as key business solutions.
  • Provide architectural and capacity guidance to ensure application resiliency and stability.
  • L3 support for application and user related issues, including performance analysis and sizing.
  • Automation and orchestration of provisioning, support and maintenance functionalities to improve efficiencies.
  • Provide Key Performance Indicator data and trend analysis to ensure application and business objectives are met.





Specialist Systems Engineer/Programmer->> Designs and develops solutions to complex application problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. Performs systems management and integration functions. May allocate/coordinate work within a team/project. Ensures that all systems, applications, software, and hardware are compliant with Corporate policy/procedures. Identifies issues and may lead the development of solutions. Works closely with external vendors to provide infrastructure needs. Works closely with Application Development and Quality Assurance and Testing teams to understand infrastructure needs during the development and testing processes. Strategizes on how to take these needs into account when developing infrastructure. Develops detailed project plans. Monitors project progress and provides regular status reports to management team. Evaluates the organization's existing infrastructure technology and researches and analyzes trends. Recommends and implements upgrades that enhance its reliability and efficiency. Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred, 6-8 years of related experience required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.


  • Current experience administering a medium to large infrastructure environment.

  • Application and/or middleware support experience is required, on these or related software areas:  faxing, content management, content deployment, digital certificate administration.Support, administration, or engineering of Linux 6.x/7.x and/or Windows 2012/2016

  • Understanding of Web Technologies including but not limited to Tomcat, IIS, WebSphere

  • Working understanding of Databases including SQL, Oracle and MongoDB a plus.

  • Scripting experience a plus, with these or related languages:  Perl, PowerShell, Bash.

  • Experience with Ansible or other orchestration tools is a plus.

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or similar containerization engine is a plus.
