Overview of the team:

Securities Finance is a collaborative development team with the goal of providing all aspects of security finance services including agency lending, principal lending, cash collateral reinvestment and secured loans.  The global team operates in 5 locations including Pittsburgh, New York, UK, India, and Canada. The team provides innovative, resilient and scalable solutions to increase revenue potential, achieve operational efficiencies, and service the business’s overall growth strategy. We embrace Agile and Open Source technologies. 


Overview of the role:

We are enhancing our teams and are looking for a Project / Program Manager who has strong communication, organization, and leadership skills. We are looking for an individual who is excited about growing our business and servicing our clients.  The incumbent will have the unique opportunity to enhance sophisticated, high-performance market platforms using the latest technology stack and best software engineering practices. The job holder will manage projects using either agile or waterfall methodologies.  S/he will follow the BNYM DLC and create project charters, setup projects in BNYM’s project management tool, assist with creating and managing user stories and requirements, track project status, assist with testing and ensuring proper testing evidence is captured, coordinating production releases and closing down projects.  The incumbent will also be responsible for communicating project status to management via verbal and written channels, participating in annual budget planning activities, requesting project funding, and tracking project and program spends. 

Sr. Specialist Project/Program Manager->> Leads and provides some direction and guidance for a wide array of activities associated with project planning and management to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and to client specifications. Manages and oversees the end to end project management activities such as project reporting, project planning, issue / risk identification and tracking, scope management, estimation, client management, relationship management and other project documentation preparation for projects of medium to high business complexity (involving multiple systems interfaces that are highly visible to the organization). Directs and controls all work performed within the framework of the Work Structure. Develops detailed project plans and schedules application/infrastructure projects, including goals, risks and resource allocation. Monitors project results for significant deviations. Manages vendor and client relations to ensure that service expectations are developed and met. Maintains regular contact with clients and coordinates and reports on project progress and accomplishments. May provide input for (project) team member performance appraisals. Works with all required Information Technology functions and groups to effectively plan and execute the project. May coordinate resources across organizational boundaries. Serves as a liaison between clients and internal technical groups to ensure delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to specification. Manages communication with the business at a detailed functional level and discusses/resolves issues. Manages client expectations and ensures project delivery in conformance with company software development life cycle methodologies. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives. Bachelor's degree, preferably in business management or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is beneficial, 8 - 10 years of related project management experience required, experience with technology or financial services industry is a plus.


  • BS or MS
  • 8+ years’ project management experience (in IT preferred)
  • Hands on experience with agile and waterfall methodologies 
  • Strong communicator who is extremely organized
  • Highly motivated and self-starter
  • Fundamental understanding of distributed applications
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced, agile development/project environment
  • Experience with of Securities Finance is preferred
