Overview of the team:

Securities Finance is a collaborative development team with the goal of providing all aspects of security finance services including agency lending, principal lending, cash collateral reinvestment and secured loans.  The global team operates in 5 locations including Pittsburgh, New York, UK, India, and Canada. The team provides innovative, resilient and scalable solutions to increase revenue potential, achieve operational efficiencies, and service the business’s overall growth strategy. We embrace Agile and Open Source technologies.


Overview of the role:

We are enhancing our teams and are looking for a PL/SQL & Java Developer who is focused on quality and details. We are looking for an individual who is excited about growing our business and servicing our clients.  The incumbent will have the unique opportunity to enhance sophisticated, high-performance market platforms using the latest technology stack and best software engineering practices. The job holder will participate in the design of logical databases, data modeling, stored procedure development, database scripting, testing, and ongoing database performance optimization.  In addition, s/he will develop and enhance our client reporting platform using Java and Jasper Reporting skills.  

Sr. Specialist Developer->> Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives. 


Preferred Qualifications: 
  • BS or MS (Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering)
  • Strong CS fundamentals with problem solving, analysis, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Highly motivated and self-starter
  • Experience building distributed high-performance, high-availability systems
  • Hands on experience in PL/SQL, Oracle 12g, Core Java & J2EE skills
  • Fundamental understanding of RDBMS and database design applications.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced, agile development/project environment
  • Experience with Jasper Reports, RESTFul webservices, Tomcat, Apache is a plus
  • Experience with of Securities Finance is preferred
Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 8-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
