This position in the BNY Mellon Legal Department will provide support primarily to the Asset Servicing businesses involving Corporate clients, Government and Not-For-Profit clients, such as pension funds and government funds, and will involve drafting and negotiating contracts and other administrative service agreements related to such clients.  This position will also include exposure to other institutional clients, such as other financial institutions and investment fund clients.  In addition to drafting and negotiating contracts, this position will  work closely with the other members of the Asset Servicing legal team to assist the business and operational teams in developing new products, assessing and mitigating risk, and understanding the legal and regulatory implications applicable to the Asset Servicing businesses, primarily in the United States.


 



Qualifications

  • Legal Degree and 4 to 7 years of experience in Legal practice focusing on contract negotiation.

  • Knowledge of ERISA and other fiduciary issues preferred.

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks to deliver a timely work product in a pressurized environment, including requests for same-day turnaround.

  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients and legal counsel.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Planning, tracking and organizational skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivation.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Enthusiasm and interest in learning new areas and developing new skill sets.
