Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of BNY Mellon, the Chief of Staff will be a key member of the Risk & Compliance leadership team, functioning as a liaison between the CRO and internal and external stakeholders including the Board of Directors, regulators, businesses, and functions. The role will be a balance between managing the CRO’s internal & external presentations / communications, as well as analytics and optimization to help improve the organization’s capabilities. 



  • Lead the development of discussion materials for the Board of Directors, business committees, and other internal committees by collaborating with senior leaders and their teams to drive high-value analyses and presentations

  • Plan, facilitate and prepare materials for internal and external meetings and communications for the CRO, including periodic business reviews, communications with regulators, and other stakeholders

  • Oversee deliverables related to post-meeting action items to ensure all follow-up items are addressed appropriately

  • Analyze and identify opportunities for innovation across the organization, including the effectiveness of internal processes to ensure best-in-class analytics

  • Drive productivity and optimization initiatives in partnership with strategy, finance and the leadership team

  • Contribute to or lead other high-priority Risk & Compliance activities as determined by the CRO


  • Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred
  • 8+ years of financial services experience, including experience supporting senior leaders / executives
  • Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized and efficient
  • Self-starter and highly motivated, with entrepreneurial mindset
  • Able to manage aggressive and competing priorities to achieve successful execution
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, with an ability to articulate complex topics simply and concisely
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both senior leaders and across all levels of the organization
  • Track record of successful partnership with stakeholders
  • Proven experience collaborating with a variety of businesses and functions
  • Ability to influence and work effectively without direct management authority
  • Broad experience across control functions, preferably risk management & compliance areas
