Sr. Specialist, IT Business Analyst - Capital Markets

Clearing, Markets & Issuer Services Technology (CMIST) is responsible for application development and support for more than 350 critical business systems including Repo Edge (collateral management), Enterprise Payment Hub (multi-currency payment processing), and Broker Dealer Clearance (securities clearing).


Clearance and Collateral Technology (CCT) within CMIST builds high-performance and resilient clearance and collateral management platforms to service BNY Mellon’s broker-dealer clients and is the sole provider for Government Securities Clearing Services. The group is currently focused on Repo Modernization, which will pave the way to the Future of Collateral for the business – providing strengthened platform resiliency and new trade capabilities within a unified system. All CCT applications are built for real-time operations aided by a data warehouse for reporting and business insights.


CCT team is looking to augment the team with a strong IT Business Analyst who can analyze and document the both functional & non-functional requirements in a highly complex program and create relevant artifacts like use cases diagrams, Business flow diagram, use case Scenarios, Sample Wireframe specific to user interface etc. Breaks down the program to independent modules with each work stream. Converts the business/functional requirements into use case and works closely with development team. Is accountable for overall functional delivery of their assigned functional work stream. Provides guidance in development of the technical design, test plans, and user documentation. Facilitates Knowledge Transfer sessions on a periodic basis to the team. Act as a technology product owner for the corresponding program/Product/Scrum team.

  • Document functional & non-functional requirements, perform gap analysis, design systems flows, and manage UAT activities leading to production release.

  • Develop business case and work closely with stakeholders to determine acceptable solutions.

  • Perform Gap Analysis and come up with solutions for attaining the target state

  • Create Use Case and User Stories
  • Participate in researching production issue and remediation

  • Perform User Acceptance Testing
  • Perform data analysis and provide reports to business/senior management on the need basis


Sr. Specialist Business Analysis Consultant->> Consults with stakeholders to analyze, define, challenge and prioritize the business requirements, functional specifications and operational architecture for a functional work stream within a highly complex strategic, global program. Formulates and defines program scope and objectives for the work stream with thorough understanding of business processes in a specific business domain. Tailors standard processes and templates for team to elicit, challenge, and prioritize requirements, and translates into functional design and use case models. Develops project scope, objectives, constraints and assumptions for a large, strategic, multi-year program. Prepares and manages the project plan, issues and risks, and is accountable for overall delivery of their assigned functional work stream on a large-scale program. Provides guidance in development of the technical design, test plans, and user documentation. Leads implementation/conversion strategy planning and implementation. Manages scope and change throughout the initiative utilizing formal change control and requirements traceability. Gathers and analyzes information and develops recommendations to address strategic business objectives that span multiple, global business and technology areas. Participates in industry forums and keeps current on domain knowledge for their specific business and application areas of expertise. Applies experiences across various software and/or systems development processes to define and collect metrics and identify and implement opportunities for improvement to increase quality of requirements and speed time-to-market. Actively influences software and/or systems development process improvement initiatives. Contributes to the achievement of related area objectives.


  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical-related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred

  • 8-10 years of experience in providing consulting advice to senior IT and business management required

  • 5-8 years of recent relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of capital markets; experience in clearance space is desired

  • Excellent Analytical/Problem solving skills
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum
  • Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations.

  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Good communication/collaboration skills
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
