The Tax & Regulatory (T&R) services team focuses on T&R Research, Strategy, Product development and Market presence. The team also focuses on the enhancement of existing T&R services as well as providing support to clients on regulatory and tax matters.
An opportunity has arisen to join the team as Regulatory Product Specialist within BNYM Asset Servicing. A key component to this role is regulation within the Investment Services sector, and therefore requires a background in regulatory matters and a good understanding of the Investments services business sector.


The candidate will take a lead role, in this very important function, to research and monitor existing regulatory matters in specific jurisdictions.

Assist and co-ordinate in the identification of upcoming Regulations which may impact our clients and business lines, and in doing so create the opportunity to implement new regulatory service offerings.

Communication. Coordinate the preparation and publication of the T&R group Regulatory collateral and thought leadership papers/publications.

Lead the preparation of training modules for the Regulatory Training Academy (modules available in BKU). BKU is BNYM’s education support portal.

Assist with the management of urgent and / or ad-hoc T&R matters as they arise.


Specific Responsibilities Include:

Management of the Horizon Scanning application for the identification of upcoming Regulations, ESMA Q&As, Industry consultations which may impact our business operations, services and clients.

Research, preparation of analysis and communication of key regulatory initiatives impacting investment services.

Review and analysis of our regulatory services revenue. Assist in the building out of the analysis to provide more detailed metrics, to benefit Snr management when making strategic decisions.

Deliver regulatory training to support BKU requirements. This could include pre-recorded and in-person sessions.

Attend Industry forums on regulatory matters. Build relations and network with others in the industry to understand how other market participants are reacting to regulatory change.

Where necessary participate in meetings with clients to discuss regulatory matters and how BNYM are addressing change. This may include assisting with the creation of material to support such discussions.

Assist with respones to regulatory queries from clients, lines of business and relationship managers.

Assist with building on our competitor analysis in order to capture the services our competitors provide with view to building market intel and assist with identifying gaps in our product offerings.

Liaise with RFP/ Sales team and co-ordinate regulatory related RFP responses. Ensure they are maintained and kept up to date.

Participate in internal Regulatory change frameworks programs with the Asset Servicing business line.


Requirements & Qualifications:

Investment Services, Asset Management services or Law Firm background.
Tax and regulatory experience (at least five years).
Strong analytical skills.
English language at grade A-C or equivalent.
Flexibility is key to take on additional tasks, work with different people and travel when needed between 2 central locations in London.
Ability to work and communicate with all levels of staff.
Solid understanding of compliance risk management and best practices.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Team player able to work across multiple lines of business with excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
