Job Description

This candidate will have a leading role in the Global Public Policy and Government Affairs team.  Responsibilities include:

 

  • Partner with Lines of Business, Legal, Technology, Finance, Risk, and other corporate functions to identify regulatory priorities and solutions

  • Develop and execute regulatory engagement and advocacy strategy

  • Build BNY Mellon’s profile as a trusted voice and industry leader on emerging policy issues

  • Cultivate relationships with policymakers, industry peers, and trade associations

  • Brief senior executives on regulatory developments

  • Prepare senior executives for meetings with policymakers

  • Manage trade association engagement

                  

The candidate should be able to:

 

  • Work independently, demonstrate sound judgment, and manage multiple projects and responsibilities

  • Digest significant amount of new information quickly to identify what is important

  • Work collaboratively across different teams and regions

  • Communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal form

  • Develop and execute creative solutions to complex problems

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Advanced Legal Degree or local country equivalent degree usually required. Progression to this level usually requires licensure/certification by the local country or jurisdiction. In some jurisdictions, may not require licensure or certification for placement in the role; in others, licensure/certification is required. 8-12 years minimum of total work experience as a qualified attorney is preferred. Prior corporate legal experience within the financial services industry or experience in assigned practice area (e.g., securities, employment, etc.) with an outside law firm is preferred.
