This candidate will have a leading role in the Global Public Policy and Government Affairs team. Responsibilities include:
Partner with Lines of Business, Legal, Technology, Finance, Risk, and other corporate functions to identify regulatory priorities and solutions
Develop and execute regulatory engagement and advocacy strategy
Build BNY Mellon’s profile as a trusted voice and industry leader on emerging policy issues
Cultivate relationships with policymakers, industry peers, and trade associations
Brief senior executives on regulatory developments
Prepare senior executives for meetings with policymakers
Manage trade association engagement
The candidate should be able to:
Work independently, demonstrate sound judgment, and manage multiple projects and responsibilities
Digest significant amount of new information quickly to identify what is important
Work collaboratively across different teams and regions
Communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal form
Develop and execute creative solutions to complex problems
Advanced Legal Degree or local country equivalent degree usually required. Progression to this level usually requires licensure/certification by the local country or jurisdiction. In some jurisdictions, may not require licensure or certification for placement in the role; in others, licensure/certification is required. 8-12 years minimum of total work experience as a qualified attorney is preferred. Prior corporate legal experience within the financial services industry or experience in assigned practice area (e.g., securities, employment, etc.) with an outside law firm is preferred.
