Senior Specialist Developer - Java

Job Description

Clearing, Markets & Issuer Services Technology (CMIST) is responsible for application development and support for more than 350 critical business systems including Repo Edge (collateral management), Enterprise Payment Hub (multi-currency payment processing), and Broker Dealer Clearance (securities clearing).

   

Markets & Market Risk Technology (MMRT) within CMIST provides technology management and application development for Foreign Exchange (FX), Securities Finance, Global Collateral Management, Liquidity Management, and Fixed Income & Equities businesses. This group also supports the company’s market risk and counterparty credit risk platforms.

 

Senior Developer will have a strong background in building scalable, reliable and high-performance platform for Risk Management. Qualified candidates will work with a team of experienced Developers, Business Analyst and Risk Managers to build solutions to address and support management and regulatory reporting requirements needs (Volcker, Basel, CCAR, DFAST and FRTB) for the bank.

  Principal Accountabilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and implement solutions using cutting edge technologies

  • Build STP solutions which ensures trades and other related inputs required for risk calculation are processed with optimal performance, quality and accuracy

  • Develop robust reconciliation tools to explain, verify movements and identify anomalies in risk metrics generated.

  • Able to work as a team with other developers to address complex problems and troubleshoot production incidents.

  • Maintain change control, testing processes and technical documentation as system modifications are made

  • Translate business requirements into technical specification

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication channels across organization and LOB (i.e. provide regular reports, metrics and query responses on statuses, issues, performance, risks etc.)

 

Sr. Specialist Developer->> Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required

  • 8-10 years of experience in software development required

  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals and expertise with Core Java 8, Spring (Boot, Framework, Batch), Restful APIs

  • Experience with Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL queries, Stored Procedures

  • Some experience or knowledge with Angular 6 or higher, .Net, C# and Python is preferred but not mandatory

  • Delivery-focused, result-oriented leadership style that can effectively motivate and cross-functional teams to deliver on aggressive goals and timelines

  • Attention to detail and maintaining high quality standards is a must.

  • Ability to comprehend complex technical and logical concepts and adapt quickly to change.

  • Strong interpersonal skills – demonstrate a positive attitude, able to work effectively as part of a project team and foster team collaboration.

  • Strong communications skills; written and verbal

  • Superior organizational skills; prioritization, planning and time management

  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus
