Overview of FSX – Mutual Fund Transfer Agent:


 


Technology at FSX provides systematic solutions centered on a mainframe platform for our clients in the mutual fund industry. The online components of this system interface with numerous surround systems built on a variety of platforms (Web based, VRU, other internal and external mainframe systems, etc…)  We build, maintain and support a full suite of in-house developed systems covering order processing, trading, clearance and settlement, books and records, reporting and regulatory systems.  We are currently recruiting for a senior CICS online developer in our Westborough development team.


 


Overview of the Role:


 


As an online principal developer/architect for FSX you will be working closely with colleagues across the Technology department and with our end-users across the full software development lifecycle. We work in an iterative process using Waterfall methodologies to deliver solutions with the necessary controls required as a global financial organization. Our team is based in Westborough, Chennai and Pune.


Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions.


 


Appropriate candidates will possess the following:


• Extensive experience (10-15 years preferred) with CICS in an IBM mainframe environment as a principal   developer/architect.  


• Capable of delivering highly complex, scalable and robust solutions.


• Provides technical and architectural leadership and guidance for the online application.


• Experience within financial services industry – at least 5-10 years (mutual fund knowledge is a plus).


• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work well independently.


• Will contribute to the technology development road map for the team – both functionally and technically.


• Effective communication skills, work alongside and collaborate across technology and business teams.


• Clear understanding and commitment to development and quality standards.


• Encourages innovation and creativity in technology solutions.


• Stays up to date with current trends and new technologies.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 8-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.


 


 


Must Have:


• Extensive experience (minimum of 10-15 years) with CICS on an IBM mainframe platform.


• Ten plus years of hands-on experience with COBOL, SQL, VSAM, DB2.


• Experience and commitment to a full SDLC culture.


• Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.


 


Desirable: 


• Experience/exposure to Java and XML, specific to CICS interaction with Web Based applications.


• Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.


• Knowledge/Experience with transmission protocols: MQ on mainframe platform, TCP/IP


• Experience developing software in a regulated business environment.


• Experience working and delivering solutions across a multi-location team.
