Job Description

 

Clearing, Markets & Issuer Services Technology (CMIST) is responsible for application development and support for more than 350 critical business systems including Repo Edge (collateral management), Enterprise Payment Hub (multi-currency payment processing), and Broker Dealer Clearance (securities clearing).

   

Markets & Market Risk Technology (MMRT) within CMIST provides technology management and application development for Foreign Exchange (FX), Securities Finance, Global Collateral Management, Liquidity Management, and Fixed Income & Equities businesses. This group also supports the company’s market risk and counterparty credit risk platforms.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Work closely with business partners to understand needs and transform them into testable components  for DMM and its sub projects.

  • Employ industry best practices to deliver world-class solutions.

  • Ensure developed solutions remain compliant with all applicable BNYM standards

  • Drive software development activities to meet schedules and timelines

  • Thrives to ensure code quality is high with supporting unit test and automation, and timely delivery

  • Research problems discovered by quality assurance or product support with a strong sense of ownership and develop solutions to address the problems

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and how they can be applied to BNYM

  • Enable change, help accelerate innovation

  • Demonstrating experience with taking intelligent risks and leveraging a ‘test and learn’ mentality

  • Conduct unit testing and integration testing for functionality

Principal Developer->> Consults with internal business groups to provide high-level application software development services or technical support. Provides comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to IT management and senior technical staffs. Evaluates compliance with the organization's technology standards. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Guides and consults with IT management and technical staffs regarding use of emerging technologies and associated services. Participates in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies. Advocates for innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required

  • 10-12 years of experience in software development

  • 10+ years of strong hands on experience with Java tech stack – Core Java /JEE, Spring /Spring Boot, Microservices, multi-threading, Concurrency and parallel processing, Streams, RESTFul Webservices, Tomcat, Apache

  • Good understanding of frameworks such as: Activiti, JPA, JAXB, Hazel Cast

  • Experience in Messaging Technologies – MQ/Kafka preferred

  • Working knowledge of branching techniques and usage of Github, Bitbucket or Subversion required

  • Fundamental understanding of RDBS (Oracle 12g, PL/SQL,) and database design applications

  • Previous hands on experience coding and building enterprise level applications

  • Appreciation for non-functional requirements: performance, scalability, testability

  • Some experience with Continuous Integration/Deployment practices including automated unit/integration/regression tests, Jenkins, Maven, etc…

  • Excellent problem-solving techniques

  • Willing to work with Third Party Collateral Management Tools

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance

  • Great written and verbal communication skills, responsive and proactive.

  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus
