This position in the BNY Mellon Legal Department will provide support primarily to the Asset Servicing businesses involving Corporate clients, Government and Not-For-Profit clients, such as pension funds and government funds, and will involve drafting and negotiating contracts and other administrative service agreements related to such clients. This position will also include exposure to other institutional clients, such as other financial institutions and investment fund clients. In addition to drafting and negotiating contracts, this position will work closely with the other members of the Asset Servicing legal team to assist the business and operational teams in developing new products, assessing and mitigating risk, and understanding the legal and regulatory implications applicable to the Asset Servicing businesses, primarily in the United States.
Advanced Legal Degree or local country equivalent degree required. Progression to this level usually requires licensure/certification by the local or jurisdictions. In some jurisdictions may not require licensure or certification in the role. In others, Licensure/certification is required.
8-12 minimum of total work experience as a qualified attorney is preferred. Prior corporate legal experience within the financial industry or experience in an assigned practice area ( e.g., securities, employment etc.) with an outside law firm preferred.
