Role description and opportunities

We are looking for editors/writers who live and breathe digital content to join us as we create a best in class global content lab to support our brand and our businesses. Ideal candidate will have a journalist background and experience in marketing. As the Digital Content Editor, you will be focused on external multimedia storytelling to engage with our clients, job seekers and investors to build BNY Mellon’s global brand and reputation as one of the world’s leading financial services company. You will be helping the department to meet deadlines and run content efficiently while ensuring digital best practices on our marquee digital properties.

We are looking for someone who understand the medium and how to make brand stories come to life through digital channels from social to app to web. You should be a creative strategist who thrives on creating stories and bringing brands to life through content. We’re looking for team players and team leaders who enjoy working closely with other writers, designers, marketers, business leads and user experience specialists to create custom content that gives value to our users and supports our brand. The work will span a variety of forms, short and long as well as immersive digital experiences, website, digital hubs, apps, emails, newsletters, surveys and videos. Looking for someone who can apply a journalistic skillset and editorial expertise to create and edit industry-leading content while helping our clients and key audiences achieve their goals.

Key responsibilities include the following

Lead all aspects of content for the global corporate website,, our global brand’s main social media handle and other digital channels. Ensuring content is optimized for the digital channel with the appropriate branded voice and brand attributes

Have a journalistic background with experience in marketing and be hands on in writing

Partner with digital/brand/business/legal to help content on the site stay updated, overseeing quality assurance for the content

Help maintain channel content schedules and establish process to effectively track content produced by different marketing teams

Be responsible for end-to-end editorial process from ideation, writing, editing, fact-checking and proofreading for all digital content

Be adept at coming up with ideas for multimedia projects that include video, text, photography and infographics to tell a story

Manage agency and contractor support for key departmental content functions including SEO support, freelance writer support and paid media support.

Partner with brand leads, communication leads and global agencies in helping customize content to our critical global markets globally

Ensure error-free editorial content prior to publication as needed

Maintain and update a digital content section of our style guide

Be skilled at analyzing data and writing compelling headlines and social media posts

Establish Content Lab meeting schedule and work with departmental admin to coordinate internal and external attendees as needed, including a weekly editorial deadline meeting and a weekly meeting with the social team



A minimum of a bachelor's degree

A minimum 12 years of experience in an assistant managing editor or managing editor role

Excellent attention to detail, project management and time management skills, as well as excellent judgement

Previous experience leading a team, specifically related to process, project management, trafficking or production

Digitally savvy and experienced, with a required and demonstrated comfort level working with data, metrics and emerging technologies

Dynamic, highly-organized multi-tasker with a proven track record of managing multiple projects on schedule in a newsroom-like environment

Superior oral and written communication skills; ability to liaise with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders

Experience working in a global function and a matrix environment

Familiarity with AP style/editorial best practices; excellent editing, grammar and copyediting skills

Familiarity with popular and emerging social platforms and channels

MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
