Overview of FSX – Mutual Fund Transfer Agent:


Technology at FSX provides systematic solutions centered on a mainframe platform for our clients in the mutual fund industry. We build, maintain and support a full suite of in-house developed systems covering order processing, trading, clearance and settlement, books and records, reporting and regulatory systems.  We are currently recruiting for a mainframe developer to work in our Westborough or Pittsburgh & King of Prussia location.


 


Overview of the Role:


As a developer for FSX, you will be working on a dedicated development team that supports key clients of BNY and on Client Onboarding opportunities.  You will collaborate with not only other team members (developers and analysts) but also colleagues across the Technology department and end-users.  We work our SDLC using Waterfall methodologies to deliver solutions with the necessary controls required as a global financial organization. Our team is based in Westborough, Chennai and Pune.


 


Analyzes requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with the team and internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Follows and implements 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. 


 


Appropriate candidates will possess the following:


• Experience (8-10 years) with Cobol, VSAM, JCL, Eztrieve and DB2 in an IBM mainframe environment.  


• Able to support a variety of assignments such as: complex, scalable and robust solutions to meet our client’s needs as well as one time “ad-hoc” reports and record maintenance requests.


• Experience within financial services industry – mutual fund knowledge is a plus.


• Experience with Distributed Application technology is a plus.


• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work well independently.


• Will contribute to the technology development road map for the team – both functionally and technically.


• Effective communication skills, work alongside and collaborate across technology and business teams.


• Clear understanding and commitment to development and quality standards.


• Encourages innovation and creativity in technology solutions.


• Stays up to date with current trends and new technologies.


 


Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.


Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 8-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.


 


Must Have:


• Experience (8-10 years) with Cobol, JCL, VSAM, Eztrieve and DB2 skills on an IBM mainframe platform.


• Experience and commitment to a full SDLC culture.


 


Desirable: 


• Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.


• Knowledge/Experience with transmission protocols: SFTP, NDM Connect Direct


• Experience developing software in a regulated business environment.


• Experience working and delivering solutions across a multi-location team.
